First opened almost two centuries ago, the historical edifice called the Teatre Principal was very first opera house of Spain. During the olden days, this theater was often chosen by Spanish Opera groups to be the venue of their debut performance before heading on to touring their act to the whole of Spain. At present, this landmark structure is more frequently used as a cinema, although it still serves as venue for concerts and other cultural events from time to time.
