The oldest and largest town in Menorca is Mao , the walled capital of Menorca situated at the end of an enormous natural harbor, and Ciutadella . Mao is an important commercial and industrial center. This particularly busy port s chief attraction is definitely its remarkable natural harbor. Its impressive architectural features, festivals and fiestas also give the place a charming mix of cosmopolitan and traditional vibe.

thru a harbor tour. The tours take around an hour and tickets are sold at the nearby Xoriguer Gin Distillery . Several British-built buildings overlook the Menorca harbor, including the old customs house and Golden Farm , where Admiral Nelson once stayed.
Menorca's 18th-century Xoriguer Gin Distillery is located on the Moll de Ponent harbor front. Here you can marvel at the enormous copper stills, bubbling to make the popular spirit, which is blended with juniper berries to produce make the distinctive and fragrant Menorca gin. The distillery also produces many other liquors. The best thing perhaps is that all of these drinks can be sampled on site and purchased at the distillery shop! In the middle of Menorca's capital city lies the park and lovely gardens of Es Freginal . The park includes many areas to sit, colorful flower beds and green lawns. The area is frequently used for local cultural events. There is also a stage that is used for musical performances, a popular attraction especially during the summer jazz festival.
In contrast to Mao s hustle and bustle is Ciutadella s grace and serenity. Located west of the island, the old capital Ciutadella has many monuments dating from the 18th century. Its winding streets, old buildings, and churches make it such a charming town. Its harbor is a good meeting place for yachts and other vessels.
